Tell Congress to Find a Cause

We've spent years looking for cures for breast cancer. Why aren't we also looking for the cause?

It's been more than ten years since Congress first recognized October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. But painting the country pink once a year isn't enough. The Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Act (BCERA) could help find the answers to questions about what causes breast cancer and how to prevent it.

Good news! We're gaining momentum. Recently, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee unanimously passed the bill. Now urge your U.S. Representative to follow the lead of their colleagues and support the Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Act.

In the blank box to the right, you can add a more personal message about how breast cancer impacts your life. Type your contact information below to send this letter to Congress today!

Subject: Support the Breast Cancer & Environmental Research Act
Dear [Lawmaker]:

It's been ten years since Congress first recognized October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. Painting the country pink once a year, however, does nothing to help find the cause for a disease that kills 40,000 women a year.

I am writing as your constituent and a breast cancer activist to ask you to support and help enact the bipartisan Breast Cancer & Environmental Research Act (H.R.2231). This important bill, unanimously passed by the Senate HELP Committee and supported by Members of Congress from across the political spectrum, would fund critical research at NIH to examine the potential links between breast cancer and the environment.

You can make a difference in the lives of women with breast cancer, and all women at risk for breast cancer, by supporting this legislation today. It could help us to find the answers about what causes breast cancer, and how to prevent it.

Sincerely,
