Get It Off Your Chest

For years we've been looking for cures for breast cancer. Why aren't we also looking for causes? Now's your chance to help!

Take a minute now to get it off your chest and explain why this matters to you and why it should matter to Congress! Share your thoughts, comments and experiences. And, if you wish, put a face on breast cancer by sharing your photo or the photo of someone else impacted by breast cancer. Then see and read about others.

It's easy! Submit the form below to say WHY Congress should make breast cancer a public policy priority. We'll publish comments like yours for others to read. If you choose to make yours available for the community to read, we'll notify you when it's posted on the website.

Get it off your chest...

...And search for others who have done the same

In 1999 my sister Linda had breast cancer. The next year I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. As far as we knew, there was no family history of the disease. Because we don't know why two of us suddenly developed it, our other three sisters and their daughters all live in fear that they too will join the epidemic.

Next month it will be six years since my diagnosis. I am presumed cured. But I don't feel safe, because breast cancer can recur at any time--even years later. No insurance company will accept me for an individual policy, because of the cancer history. They can't be sure I'm cured either, because breast cancer remains so mysterious.

I had genetic testing for known breast cancer genes. It was entirely negative. So something else, something unknown and deadly, caused my cancer. It's time to find out what and put an end to the epidemic.
